Note to self: don’t come back too often to this page. If you are like me and you love the Big Mac because of its famous sauce, you’re gonna want to make burgers at home all the time. I admit I didn’t make the best photograph of my home-made burger, but what matters here is the taste of its sauce. This burger I made here actually is not even a Big Mac, and it means you can just compose the burger you like, as long as the ingredients you pick match with the Big Mac sauce. I would though recommend to keep a beef patty as the main protein – but not a flat sole as they serve at Mc Donald’s, I mean a real beef patty made of meat bought at the butcher’s.
It is not a secret that the Big Mac sauce is being kept secret. The recipe I am using only contains real ingredients that anyone can come by very easily. No preservatives, no coloring additives, no extra artificial aromas. I only use a few industrial items (i.e. the Savora mustard, and the mayonnaise if I don’t feel like making it myself), but otherwise, every flavor and color comes from an ingredient that exists as a real food. So, obviously, my recipe is not the original recipe of the Big Mac sauce, nevertheless it tastes the same, and making it at home is not that big a deal.
- 4 tsp of mayonnaise
- 1 tsp of Dijon mustard
- 1 tsp of American yellow mustard or French Savora sweet mustard
- 4 tbsp of finely chopped sweet pickles
- 2 tbsp of chopped onion
- 1 tsp of white vinegar
- 2 tsp of sugar
- 1 tsp of smoked paprika
- Chop the pickles and the onion.
- Combine with all the other ingredients.
- Refrigerate at least 30 minutes before generously using in a hamburger.
